Mid afternoon, one Friday, we received a call from a customer asking if we did engraving on glass, and could we complete a job in a few days. We confirmed that we could and asked if we needed to supply the glass; he said he would bring it to us. About an hour later, a young officer brought in a bottle of high-end bourbon for a retiring soldier, onto which he needed an Army Depot emblem engraved.
As we prepared and engraved the bottle, we decided to honor the soldier by creating a custom box to hold the bourbon gift. We engraved it with the Depot emblem on top, and inside the lid added “Thank you for your service”. We did not know who the retiring individual was, but just wanted to add our thanks to someone who had spent their career serving our country.
When the young officer came to pick up the engraved bottle, he loved the additional gift box we added. It was then we asked who the retiring soldier was, and were informed that the gift was for a retiring Major General, who was currently in charge of multiple national Commands including over 16,000 soldiers. This was a highly decorated officer who had graduated from West Point and served in several overseas campaigns, including Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
We were humbled that our gift box would be part of celebrating such an accomplished career. While every recipient of our work may not be a Major General, it reminds us of one of our core values: treat every customer like they are the most important customer we have.
Our goal isn’t just customer satisfaction. While we may not always achieve it, our goal is to make sure every customer is thrilled with the products and services that they receive from us and we continually strive to achieve that goal.
